Youtube Has No Issue Platforming Would-be Presidential Assassin John Hinckley Jr

As platform bans "dangerous" questions about 2020 election or COVID

In a surprise to few, Youtube has outdone itself once again in the hypocrisy department, this time platforming John Hinckley Jr. Yes, the Hinckley, the pedophile and psychopath who developed a bizarre obsession with Jodie Foster after watching Taxi Driver and decided to impress her by shooting Ronald Reagan. Yes, you read that right. No, this isn’t satire.

While it seems incredible that Youtube would platform a known pedophile (Foster was twelve and turned thirteen while filming the movie, seven years younger than already-adult Hinckley) who tried to assassinate a US president, it hardly surprises me. They have long made their warped double standards known. What does surprise me at least a little is the fact that legacy media outlets are essentially ignoring his murderous psychopathy and focusing solely on his music. Some of them even praise his tunes; basically sign-of-the-times 70s trash you’d expect on the B-side of a multi-band compilation.

To be clear, while I absolutely do not approve of censoring anyone for material which is in and of itself legal (and Hinckley’s off-tune warblings are certainly legal, if unlistenable) I find it almost offensive that a website which has banned people for the most mere of infractions is letting an attempted murderer continue, presumably, to try and woo the woman of his dreams- and that is likely his psychopathic goal. The concept that he has been “cured” is one that only a total moron would believe. The story becomes more bizarre when you consider that Donald Trump was banned from Youtube for telling people to go home with peace and love in their hearts. This is apparently more dangerous than shooting a sitting president according to Susan Wojciki. One wonders if congressional GOP members will even mention this story in the context of their supposed struggle to undo big tech censorship.

In other news, left wingers are applauding him in the comments. I suspect most of that is edgelords as opposed to genuine ideology, but it will still be funny if thousands of clankers pour in to laugh at them. And they will.
