The Trump Indictment: The Lines are Drawn

You're either with the Republic or you're not

The lines have now been drawn in what might be the most important sociopolitical showdown since the US civil war- a line deliniating two divergent paths- one which leads towards stagnating, perpetual autocracy, and one which leads towards imperfect, sometimes fragile, but measurable liberty and civic respect, in which time honored traditions, like not persecuting former executives, as is done in dysfunctional third world states, are not thrown aside because someone rocks the boat too much.

I speak of course of the nonsensical indictment of Donald Trump on various charges yesterday pertinent to the ham-handed and desperately partisan case against him led by the Department of Justice, relative to Trump taking his work home with him to the Maralago- work which was sometimes (although not always) of a classified nature. The witch hunt has spread, now involving Trumps' aide Walt Nauta, in a case to be overseen by Aileen Cannon- likely compromised by the deep state and chosen because she will seem impartial or even Trump-friendly to independent voters, having been appointed by him. Considering Trump also appointed John Bolton, who has castigated Trump continuously, I remain skeptical of her particular partialities.

That there is no evidence that any third party ever breached the material at the Maralago is somewhat important. That other individuals such as Hillary Clinton, Mike Pence, and Joe Biden, who did not have the ability to declassify anything when they requisitioned sensitive material- as Trump provably did- is also important.

But the most important note I can make about the entire case is the obvious timing- house members were detailing elements of the unclassified FBI document alleging Biden was involved in a bribery scandal involving Burisma on the same day as the indictment. What a convenient distraction!

This move is deeply concerning- beyond the ignoring of basic civic precedence, we have an obvious case of persecution and legal duality, in which a former president is being perpetually harassed by the legal system for what amounts to the crime of doing what he said he wanted to do, instead of saying it and then not doing it, as everyone else on capitol hill seems inclined. This particular case is not about classifieed documents, it's about the establishment attempting to protect itself, just as it is doing when it attacks every form of commerce and innovation which might allow a dissident to rise beyond the middle class in any meaningful way. In this legal duality, is there any way that a private citizen who isn't a billionaire former president can possibly expect to be defended, to be treated as a citizen, and not a slave? I answer myself: No, they cannot expect so.

As we plunge down this rabbit hole involuntarily, I suggest re-nominating Donald Trump, and if the Republican Party sabotages him (it might) or refuses to support his run (part of the party will definitely do so) or tosses him under the bus and refuses to run him despite his now nigh-inevitable primary victory (also possible), I suggest returning the favor, flipping the middle finger in their face, and letting them dissolve like the feckless cowards most of them are, into the dustbin of irrelevant history- a footnote of failure. And should Donald Trump overcome this latest injustice, heaped upon so many he has already suffered, I encourage electing him once again to the presidency; while he will be imperfect, and his bravado may at some times rankle, I can't think of another human being who has so vexed the powers that be that they are willing to go to such lengths.

At this point, you're either with the Republic, or you support marching goose-step style off a cliff into the maw of oligarchic, stagnating, boring, perpetually uniparty-bound tyranny. A tyranny all the more tyrannical because it presents the facade of freedom while strangulating it, and the facade of upward mobility, while persecuting those who have attained it.

As I always say; I know the media is corrupt. I know the bureaucracy is corrupt. I know the corporations are corrupt. I know the banks are corrupt. I know most politicians in DC are corrupt. I have seen it for years in their actions. So when all these observably corrupt people tell me Trump is uniquely corrupt and a threat to "democracy", I laugh, ignore them, and assume he's far less corrupt than any of them.
